Kisspeptin

Microgram doses from a milligram vial.

Kisspeptin is supplied in milligram vials and dosed in micrograms, so the water volume decides whether a dose lands on a mark you can actually read.

The science

Why the vial size works against you here

01

Kisspeptin is a peptide involved in the signalling that regulates reproductive hormones. It has been used in research settings, and it is supplied for research use as a lyophilised powder in 5 or 10 mg vials.

02

The doses discussed sit in the region of 50 to 250 micrograms, which against a 10 mg vial is between one two-hundredth and one fortieth of the contents. The wide ratio is the thing to plan around.

03

A 10 mg vial in 1 ml is 10 mg per ml, so a 100 mcg dose is 0.01 ml, which is 1 unit. That is below the point where a U-100 barrel can be read with any confidence, and no amount of care at the moment of drawing fixes it.

04

Reconstituting the same vial with 3 ml gives 3.33 mg per ml and moves that dose to 3 units, which is still modest. The honest conclusion is that small doses from a large vial often call for a second dilution rather than a different water volume, which the dilution calculator on this site handles.

Lookup

5 mg and 10 mg vials, every water volume

A 10 mg vial reconstituted thinly puts a 100 mcg dose at a couple of units. The table marks every combination that falls below the readable range.

A dot marks a combination that falls under two units or overflows a 100-unit barrel. Both are hard to measure accurately, so they are worth avoiding rather than eyeballing.

Regulatory status

Studied in research, not approved

Kisspeptin has been investigated in research and clinical settings, particularly in reproductive endocrinology. It has not been approved as a medicine by the FDA or any comparable regulator, and no official dose exists.

It is covered by the World Anti-Doping Agency's S0 category, which captures any pharmacological substance with no current approval from any governmental health authority, so it is prohibited in tested sport at all times.

Research use in a controlled setting and research chemical supply are not the same thing. Published studies describe material of known identity and purity, prepared and administered under supervision, which is not what is being sold online.

FAQ

Common questions

How many units is 100 mcg of kisspeptin?

It depends heavily on the reconstitution. A 10 mg vial in 2 ml is 5 mg per ml, so 100 mcg is 0.02 ml, which is 2 units. The same dose from a 5 mg vial in 3 ml is 6 units. With a ratio this wide the water volume is the whole problem.

How much bacteriostatic water should I use for kisspeptin?

As much as the vial will hold, within reason, because the doses are very small relative to the contents. Even then a 10 mg vial rarely gets a 100 mcg dose far up the barrel, which is why a second dilution is often the more practical answer.

What if my dose comes out under two units?

Below two units the graduations on a U-100 barrel are too coarse to measure reliably. Adding more water helps but has limits set by the vial. The alternative is to dilute a measured portion of the existing solution into a fresh sterile vial, which the dilution calculator on this site works out.

Is kisspeptin used in medicine?

It has been studied in research and clinical settings, particularly in reproductive endocrinology, but it has not been approved as a medicine by the FDA or any comparable regulator. Being studied is not the same as being approved, and no official dose exists.

Is kisspeptin approved for human use?

No. There is no approved product, no prescribing information and no official dosing guidance. Material sold for research use carries no assurance of identity, purity or quantity. This page performs arithmetic on numbers you enter and implies nothing about whether a dose is appropriate.
